The Knights Templar have been the subject of intrigue for hundreds of years, and their history has been used as the basis for novels from Ivanhoe to The Da Vinci Code. They also have many links with our county, which will be the focus of an interesting talk coming to The Collection.
Knights Templar in Medieval Lincolnshire: illustrated by Eran Bauer will be at The Collection on Tuesday 20 July at 7:30pm. Tickets will cost £2 and can be bought in advance or on the door.
The lecture will focus on local links with the Knights Templar in Lincolnshire, especially the very important site at Temple Bruer. The temple was the centre of the Knight’s activities in Lincolnshire and holds a lot of the secrets about the Knight’s Templar. There will also be a mannequin dressed in replica Templar armour and some medieval finds to handle.
Chevalier Eran Bauer is the Preceptor of the East of England for the Grand Priory of the Knights Templar as well as being a Lincolnshire County Councillor
He said:
“This is most definitely not a stuffy old lecturer delivering a traditionally boring talk.
“For anyone with an interest in early medieval history this beautifully illustrated talk covers a wide range of historical subjects focussing on the Knights Templar whilst explaining a lot about how Lincolnshire developed as a regional trade centre, how the region might have looked and the relationship between society and the church.”
