The Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council has called on local businesses and communities to work together to meet the economic challenges that lie ahead.
Councillor Peter Bedford made the call at this year’s Civic Service, held in Lincoln Cathedral on Sunday 11 July, during a speech that was well received by business leaders from both Lincolnshire and the surrounding counties.
Councillor Bedford said, "We’ve already arranged for one local company to meet with our economic regeneration team to see how we can work together during these difficult times. My hope is that over the course of the coming year I can help local businesses drive the county to better times."
The service was attended by representatives from local communities and businesses, along with members of the armed forces and councils from within and outside the county. Among the guests were Tony Worth, the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, and John Godfrey CBE, the county’s High Sheriff.
The service marked the start of the Civic Year, looking forward to the important work that will be carried out by Lincolnshire County Council over the next twelve months.
