Culinary attack at Lincoln Christmas Market

The sound of sizzling bratwurst sausages, the festive aroma of warm mulled wine and the spectacle of brightly coloured sweet treats – a culinary attack on the senses will be on offer at this year’s Lincoln Christmas Market.

Event organisers at the City of Lincoln Council have continued to secure local Lincolnshire food producers with an expanding Lincolnshire Larder at the Lawn.  Always a very popular section with the market's 170,000 visitors, the Lincolnshire Larder has newcomers this year including Lincoln company Angel Desserts, as well as returning favourites like FW Read and Sons with their well-loved Lincolnshire Poacher cheese and Oslinc with their famous ostrich products.

Stalls with fabulous ‘foodie’ gifts include specialist beers, wines and cheeses, traditional sweets, five bird roasts, chutneys and even gourmet liquorice and gift hampers. Treats to eat on the day include hot chestnuts and roasted nuts, mince pies, crepes, traditional Cornish pasties and a chocolate fountain.

As Lincoln was the first German Christmas market in the UK, the idea born from the city’s twinning with Neustadt-an-der-Weinstrasse, visitors are sure to enjoy the German food and drink on offer, including the ever popular bratwurst sausages, ghluwein and German biscuits, which make for ideal snacks at the event itself and interesting Christmas gifts.  On the corner of Westgate and Union Road will be themed German Area, selling bratwursts.

Lincoln Christmas market is free and runs from 4pm on Thursday 2nd December right through to the evening of Sunday 5th December.  The best way to enjoy to the market is to use the park and ride service, operated from Lincolnshire Showground.
