The Lincoln Book Festival, which will take place in 12 venues around the city, it will feature renowned poets, including the former Poet Laureate Sir Andrew Motion, Brian Patten and Attila the Stockbroker, and favourite authors including award-winning crime writer Val McDermid, Sophie Hannah and Lincolnshire's Margaret Dickinson.

This year's programme is available at the Lincoln Drill Hall, online at the lincoln book festival website and in book festival venues across Lincoln.  It is packed with interesting and stimulating events ranging from an evening of comedy with cartoonist Tony Husband and comedian and poet Ian McMillan, to talks from new and young writers, and celebrity guests talking about their lives and Desert Island Book choices, including Terry Waite CBE, and politicians the Rt. Hon. Norman, Lord Lamont and Patrick, the Lord Cormack.

The festival patron, Sir Andrew Motion (Poet Laureate 1999-2009), will be performing at the Drill Hall on Thursday 12th May.

On Saturday 14th May, a Children’s Fest Day sponsored by the Lincolnshire Co-operative is being held at The Drill Hall to bring literacy alive to children.  The day will include storytelling, workshops and activities for all age groups.  Authors such as Michael Cox, Jonathan Stroud, Cathy Watts, Alex Bell and Cathy Brett, plus Helen McCormick and her Dramabugs, will be taking part.

All events are ticketed; although some events are free and others start at an affordable £3 (concessions are available).

Tickets can be bought online at www.lincolndrillhall.com, by calling 01522 873894, or in person from the Lincoln Drill Hall box office in Free School Lane, Lincoln. Some tickets may also be bought direct from book festival venues - please see the programme for full details which can be found on the Lincoln Book Festival website.
