Getting Around Lincolnshire

Visiting Lincolnshire's attractions is an ideal way to spend your holiday.  But what is the best way to get here and get around?

There are many main roads that run through Lincolnshire which make the county easy to get to, despite a general lack of motorways - which is not necessarily a bad thing!

Lincolnshire by Car or Motorcycle

Easily the most popular form of transport, and one of the best ways to see the county.  Travelling by car gives you the opportunity to explore the county at your own pace and opens up some great views of the countryside - particularly when crossing the Lincolnshire Wolds between Louth and Horncastle.

However, a car is not such a great way to visit busy locations such as Skegness, Lincoln or any of the major towns in the area during main holiday season.  Both Skegness and Lincoln are accessible by rail.

If coming by motorcycle remember to take care as Lincolnshire's roads can be hazardous for motorcyles.  However, a visit to the county would not be complete without a visit to Cadwell Park to view a race.

Lincolnshire by Rail

There are regular services running to both Lincoln and Skegness, as well as many other locations in the county.  This is an ideal way to visit the county - getting away from the troubles of congested cities and towns!

Lincolnshire by Bus or Coach

There is an extensive bus service running across the county, including the ever-popular number 6 service from Lincoln to Skegness and points inbetween.  Combined with the rail services in the county this makes a great way to get around without the need to drive.

There are also many coach providers, local to you, who provide journeys to the county.  Check your local press for details.

Lincolnshire by Bicycle

Lincolnshire is an ideal location for the keen cyclist as well as the novice.  Whether you are interested in a challenge by cycling across the Wolds or less challenge over the flat Lincolnshire Fens, there is something for you!  There are a network of cycle routes and the route from Skegness to Gibraltar Point comes highly recommended!
