The less mobile, visually impaired and families with small children now have extra help to explore Lincolnshire’s countryside.
Countryside for all in Lincolnshire is a specially-produced information booklet launched by Lincolnshire County Council. It contains leaflets on five locations, featuring useful details on path gradients, slopes and surfaces, the location of seats and steps, as well as information on facilities and parking. There is also a map of the site.
People with limited mobility or visual impairments and parents with pushchairs can now better assess and plan their days out at Bourne Woods, Bourne; Chambers Farm Wood, Wragby; Deeping Lakes, Deeping St James; South Thoresby Warren, Alford and Whisby Nature Park, Lincoln.
Debby Braund, in the county council’s Countryside Access Team, said: “Lincolnshire is a wonderful county with many incredible, unspoilt areas of beauty which everyone should be able to explore and enjoy. The new booklet has been produced to provide key information to those with specific mobility challenges.
“The clearly labelled maps of each visitor site will help people work out things like which surfaces will be fine for them, which sections may be too steep, and where rest-stops are. We hope these will enable even more people to experience the countryside in Lincolnshire.”
