The Lincoln Christmas Market mascot has a new name, thanks to children from across the UK.
The nameless elf appealed to children, who rose to the challenge and came up with more than 50 names - now the winner has been picked from the elf’s hat!
Lucky winner six year-old Rhys Kendall from Lincoln came up with the very festive name of Jingle. He will get to meet the elf, as well as winning a trip to see Father Christmas at the Market and toy vouchers.
Since being hired as the Christmas Market mascot, the elf has used Twitter to send out messages about the event. He has updated his followers about the entertainment programme, stallholders and media coverage.
During the Market, Jingle the elf will send messages about queuing times, times and locations for street entertainment and will even be able to give directions to lost visitors.
Visitors will also be able to ask the elf questions. For example, if a visitor wanted to know where a particular stall was located, a tweet to Jingle will mean he can reply with the answer.
