Residents living in the uphill and Bailgate areas of Lincoln can now prepare for parking restrictions during the Christmas Market weekend. With only three weeks to go before the Market begins, people living and working in and around the Bailgate area, can plan ahead to minimise disruption during the four-day event.
A Park and Ride scheme will operate from the Lincolnshire Showground to the Museum of Lincolnshire Life to reduce the amount of cars trying to park in uphill Lincoln. Last year, more than 10,000 cars used the service.
Much of the Christmas Market stalls and entertainment use the uphill car parks. The following car parks in the Bailgate area will close progressively before the Market starts and be closed during the event itself:
Langworthgate car park will remain open throughout the Market. From Monday 30th November to Wednesday 2nd December, supplementary parking for shoppers will be available at the Lincoln Hotel and White Hart Hotel car parks.
Speed limits will also be in force around the Market site and the Lincolnshire Showground to maintain the flow of traffic and reduce congestion.
Resident Access Passes will be delivered between 13th and 20th November to households in the market area. Each household will get one pass along with a newsletter. Up to three extra residents’ passes are available from the Tourist Information Centre on Castle Square or from City Hall. ID must be presented to collect extra passes and proof of residency must be provided.
Businesses in the Christmas Market area will receive a newsletter giving details of road closures. Numbered business passes are only available from TSS Events by calling 01522 703344.
