Lincolnshire Police Authority is inviting members of the public to take part in a Question Time event next month, when a panel of Authority members and senior Force officers will answer questions about policing and community issues.
“We are always looking for new opportunities for the public to voice their thoughts and concerns about what matters most to them”, said John Horton, the Authority’s Engagement and Communications Officer. “We hope this will be the first of a series of Question Times. The event will be recorded and broadcast on both Force and Authority web sites. We will also post it on YouTube. We would like people to submit questions through the Authority website or by leaving a message or a text on a dedicated mobile phone number 07789176162.
“The Authority is also establishing a Facebook page to accept questions. Eventually we will add regular updates on news and events”.
Police Authority Chairman Barry Young, who will be a member of the panel, commented: “The Authority must ensure and oversee the effectiveness and efficiency of the Force. We need constantly to collect and update information from the public so that policing priorities are in line with matters that are important to people in the county.
“The panel will try to answer as many questions as possible. For the first programme we will not be able to accommodate an audience in the studio but depending on interest from the public we intend to pursue that option in future programmes. Ultimately we would like to produce and record a series of debates on policing that will feature a panel of experts and an audience of Lincolnshire residents”.
Mr.Young will be joined on the panel by Authority Vice Chairman John Cooke, Deputy Chief Constable Neil Rhodes, and another Force representative.
The event will be hosted by former Yorkshire Television and BBC Lincolnshire presenter Alan Hardwick.
Questions should be submitted before May 18. Questioners can be anonymous, although a name and location would be appreciated.
