National league tables published today show Lincolnshire’s schools continue to provide an excellent education for our young people, with results for GCSEs above the national average.
Lincolnshire continues to exceed national averages for key attainment indicators in 2010 at Key Stage 4:
The rate of improvement in key indicators exceeds that seen nationally over the last five years for key indicators:
Early figures for the new English baccalaureate exceed national average figures with Lincolnshire at 18.2% compared to 15.5% nationally. This measure was introduced by the Government retrospectively and some schools were penalized because of the curriculum choices on offer to children.
Councillor Mrs Patricia Bradwell, Executive Councillor for Children’s Services, is delighted with Lincolnshire’s performance: "These results from our secondary schools are outstanding. We are outperforming national averages in all categories consistently and the vast majority of other local authorities. This is the eighth consecutive year on year improvement we have had at GCSE, which is a remarkable performance. It clearly shows Lincolnshire is an excellent place for parents and carers to have their children educated. We send our congratulations to the students, teachers, parents and carers."
