Come along to the Market Rasen Autumn Food Fair later this month and get a real taste of the county. The fair takes place at the Festival Hall in Market Rasen on Saturday 26 September.
Tangy Lincolnshire Poacher cheese, the peppery flavour of sage-flecked, coarse-ground Lincolnshire sausages, slabs of the succulent, marbled Lincoln reed beef or plum bread – these are only a few of the delights that Lincolnshire is famous for.
Over 30 Award winning stalls will sell their delicious local produce, such as meats, cheese, fish, preserves, cakes, vegetables and much more.
The free event, which has already been a great success the year before, promotes the project ‘Tastes of Lincolnshire’, funded by Lincolnshire County Council and European Union, encouraging people to choose locally produced food and drink. It fits temporally into the eighth British Food Fortnight, the biggest national celebration for British produce, running from 19th September to 4th October.
However, the culinary delights are not the only attractions of the Autumn Food Fair: Refreshments, competitions and a raffle in aid of charity will thrill youngsters as well as adults. For visitors arriving by car a Park & Ride service will be offered by Duckworth Land Rover.
Besides this, the highlights of the event will be the cookery demonstrations by the famous local cook Rachel Green.
The main aim of the Autumn Food Fair is to bring local produced food to the consumer. Lydia Rusling from ‘Tastes of Lincolnshire’ states on this:
“It is very important to support the local producers in our county, due to the fact that Lincolnshire produces 20% of the national food. Besides, visiting the Autumn Food Fair will be really worth it: There will be something for everyone.”
