New hotel to generate jobs in Lincoln

The vision of Lincoln as a contemporary cathedral city has been further enhanced with final planning approval given for a four star, design-led hotel to be located on the Brayford North Pool.  The new build hotel will create in the region of 70 new jobs in the city.

Having approved the original plans in 2008, the City of Lincoln Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday evening endorsed the enhanced plans for the hotel, which offered a higher specification of architecture and design.  Work is scheduled to commence on the site of the old electricity power station within the next six weeks.

Offering 115 well appointed guest rooms and over 500 square metres of meeting and events space, the hotel is set to provide Lincoln with a high quality venue for accommodation, conferences and weddings.  From small informal meetings to 250 delegate seminars and dinners, all the contemporary meeting and event space will benefit from natural daylight.

Modern and spacious guest rooms of varying sizes from standard rooms to city-view suites, will each feature both work desk and lounge space with flat-screen TVs and wi-fi internet.  In addition, the hotel will offer an on-site gym boasting the latest in cardiovascular and fitness equipment.

In addition to the outstanding accommodation and meetings facilities, the hotel will also offer a signature bar and restaurant located on the hotel’s top floor showcasing some of the city’s fantastic views.  The team behind the hotel is already in discussions with a renowned chef who it hopes will contribute to the development of the restaurant concept using the finest local produce.
