A zip wire, a mound trail and a spider’s web climbing frame are coming soon to a play area in Lincoln.
Work has started to completely revamp the Victoria Street Play Area, off Newark Road, using a design chosen by local children.
Costing around £63,000 from the government’s Playbuilder programme, the play area will take around a month to construct, opening in time for the school summer holidays. Victoria Street play area is the final new scheme to come from around £200,000 in Playbuilder funding. The other two schemes are Newark Road and Nene Road play areas.
The site currently has just a swing frame, with no swings. Tracey Parr, who runs a Playrangers session there every week for local children, said: "We bring a lot of equipment for the play sessions, but the children are really looking forward to the new play area. They chose the design from two, so it’s going to be something that they really care about. "
Antony Angus, Recreation Services Team Leader at the City of Lincoln Council, said: "This is the final site for the DCSF Playbuilder programme for Lincoln and we very much hope that the children and young people will greatly benefit from having an area where they can play and be active. We feel that the children have chosen a great design for the play area."
