Lincolnshire Police Authority is broadcasting a series of ten-minute programmes on its website in which senior officers and authority members answer questions from members of the public about policing and community issues.
"Most of the questions came from visitors to the police open day”, said John Horton, the Authority’s Engagement and Communications Officer. “We also asked people to submit questions on-line. The first three programmes cover a wide range of subjects and we hope viewers will find them interesting as well as informative. We would be delighted to receive comments - and more questions."
Police Authority Chairman Barry Young was joined on the Question Time panel by Authority Vice Chairman John Cooke, Deputy Chief Constable Neil Rhodes, and Divisional Commander Chief Supt. Russ Hardy.
The event was hosted by former Yorkshire Television and BBC Lincolnshire presenter Alan Hardwick.
The programmes are available on both Force and Authority web sites (see below)and have also been posted on YouTube.
Mr. Young commented: "The Authority must ensure and oversee the effectiveness and efficiency of the Force. We need constantly to collect and update information from the public so that policing priorities are in line with matters that are important to people in the county
"For the first programmes we were not able to accommodate an audience in the studio but depending on interest from the public we intend to pursue that option in future programmes. Ultimately we would like to produce and record a series of debates on policing that will feature a panel of experts and an audience of Lincolnshire residents."
