Reggae Festival licence refused

Businesses from Ingoldmells attended a meeting of East Lindsey District Council's Licensing Sub-Committee to highlight their concerns about a licence application submitted by MG events for a three day Reggae Festival at Ingoldmells Point that had been planned for July.

At the Sub-Committee meeting held at Louth Town Hall, Councillors decided after listening to views from the organisers and the Police that a Premises Licence should not be granted for the event to go ahead as it failed to fulfill any of the four statutory licensing objectives.

The Sub-Committee made the decision after hearing concerns from Lincolnshire Police about how the event, which could attract up to 5,000 (reduced from 14,999) people, would affect people living and holidaying in the area. Concerns were also raised that the organisers hadn’t taken on board safety advice provided by the multi-agency East Lindsey Safety Advisory Group (ELSAG) when developing their Event Management Plan. ELSAG offered advice and guidance in an attempt to help the event to move forward, whilst being safe, manageable and appropriate for the local area.
