Stars of stage and screen to light up Lincoln for Christmas

An acting duo will officially switch on Lincoln’s Christmas lights on Thursday 18th November.

Local lad, Colin McFarlane, star of films such as Batman: The Dark Knight and television programmes including ITV’s The Cube, will be joined by Chris Rankin, also known as Percy Weasley from the Harry Potter films.

Surrounded by stars from the Lincoln Drill Hall pantomime, Dick Whittington, the pair will switch on the main city centre lights display at around 7.10pm.

Earlier in the evening, Dick Whittington himself will get help from his cat when he switches on the lights at St Marks Shopping Centre at around 6.30pm, before joining a 'panto parade' to see the High Street lights illuminated.  Entertainment for the crowds kicks off at St Marks Shopping Centre at 5pm, with Lincs FM’s Rob Hammond playing host.  At the War Memorial on High Street, the Salvation Army band will get everyone in the festive spirit with Christmas carols from 6pm.

The stars will sign autographs following the High Street switch on in the Waterside Centre.

The Christmas lights in the city centre are provided by the City of Lincoln Council, in partnership with Lincoln BIG.
