Shakespeare and Robin Hood are coming to the county later this summer. The beautiful grounds of Lincoln Castle will play host to five outdoor theatre shows in July and August.
The first of these will be on Sunday 19 July with Shakespeare’s funniest and most popular comedy; Twelfth Night. The Lord Chamberlain’s Men perform as Shakespeare originally performed his plays – with an all male cast. There will be plenty of mistaken identity and general shenanigans all round.

On Saturday 1 August and Sunday 9 August will be The Adventures of Robin Hood. An adaptation of the classic tale, with Robin and his Merry Men battling to defeat the evil Sherriff of Nottingham and win the heart of Maid Marian. This version features well known songs, dazzling costumes and a fantastic cast.
On Sunday 2 August and Saturday 8 August audiences are in for a real historical treat with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). This is a hilarious compilation of all of the bard’s works, played by only three actors in a staggering 93 minutes. It ran for nine record-breaking years in the West End of London and has become one of the world's most popular shows. The Othello ‘rap’ and Titius Andronicus’s ‘cooking show’ are not to be missed.
Felicity Bound, Events Organiser at Lincoln Castle said:
“These weekends are what summer at Lincoln Castle is really all about – fun for all the family in the open air.
“The historical backdrop is the ideal setting for these types of shows, and I am sure they will all prove to be a huge success.”
“We are thrilled to welcome these two well established theatre companies to Lincoln Castle for the first time”
