Lincolnshire's only local authority provided Court Referral Repossession Service has received a nine months extension thanks to funding from the Supporting People Programme.
The Court Support Service, which is provided by East Lindsey District Council in partnership with the Citizens’ Advice Bureau, has maintained Level ‘A’ Standard throughout the Quality Assessment Framework in its second assessment by Lincolnshire County Council, after it prevented 55 individuals and families from becoming homeless in the last year.
Its success has also results in a further £29,000 of funding from the Supporting People Grant, which means it can continue to support local people until May 2011.
The Court Support Service that is based at Skegness Magistrates Court was set up specifically to help those individuals and families living in East Lindsey that face home repossessions. The Service has also supported five families through the Government Mortgage Rescue Scheme, whereby the local social housing provider, Waterloo Housing, has bought the houses and rented them back to families to ensure they can continue to live in them.
