A trailer dressed as a beach chalet will be used by Skegness Town Council to promote Skegness this summer.
The town council has paid around £3,000 to buy the trailer and get it decorated like a beach hut with the intention to take it around the country to get more people visiting Skegness.
Its first outing will be to Waddington Air Show on July 4 and 5. Then it is expected to go to lots of shopping centres, shows and events throughout the region as a means of engaging with the public. The eye-catching vehicle is sure to attract lots of attention as it will be adorned with bright colours and traditional postcard charicatures.
The council has also had 93,000 leaflets made up to promote the town. They have been distributed to hotels, bed and breakfasts, information centres and motorway stations throughout Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.
Town clerk Tony Cumberworth said: "We're trying a few different things to try to promote the town by hopefully jumping on the bandwagon of people not going abroad on holiday this year.
"It's part and parcel of the work to improve the foreshore and Lumley Road to make the town look better."
