An event aimed at bridging the generation gap is taking place at the Methodist Hall in Algitha Road, Skegness, on Saturday 16 October between 10am and 2pm.
The 'Chicken and Egg' event has been organised by 'Together In Generations', a multi-agency group that comprises East Lindsey District Council, Skegness and District Seniors Forum, Lincolnshire Police, Skegness Cluster, Children's Services, Teenage Services and Age UK.
The theme of the event is the safe preparation of chicken and will involve handwashing and cooking demonstrations plus quizzes and competitions and the session will coincide with National Older Peoples Day and Youth Participation Week. Attendance is strictly by invitation and PC Paula Young from Skegness Neighbourhood Policing Team explained how they are hoping to fill the places.
"We are aiming for a 50/50 mix of young and old particpiants and each attendee will be personally invited", said PC Young. "These will be older people who have suffered anti-social behaviour from youths and young people who we have identified as being involved in this unacceptable sort of behaviour. Both generations can come together at this event and develop a greater understanding and bond, which can only have a positive impact on the community as a whole".
If you would like to learn more about the event, please contact PC Young on 01754 762222 / 07939 312650 or Debbie Chambers from the Youth Centre on 01754 764424.
