'Drive4Life' Aims To Make Roads Safer

Drive4Life is taking place at Manby Motorplex on Manby Showground, near Louth on Saturday 13 June 2009. The day kicks off at 10.00am and promises to be packed full of demonstrations, presentations, display stands and exciting activities for all the family.

"There is literally something for everyone at this year's event, which includes free entry," said Police Community Support Officer Andrea Cave who has been busy getting the event organised along with PCSO Justin Mekkaoui.

"We have everything you could imagine, from a mock collision extraction by all three emergency services, cycle training with a chance to win prizes and go-karting sessions to the chance to feel what it's like to be involved in a road traffic collision on a car-crash simulator and many other hands on practical displays," said PCSO Cave. "In addition there is the chance to sign up for a driving course, have a tour of a speed camera van and a wander around some vintage emergency service vehicles. For youngsters the Funk Bus and Real Bus will be on site all day," she said.

The event, unique in the county and in its second year, has been funded by Lincolnshire Police, Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and the County Council's Children's Services, with additional sponsorship kindly provided by Davis Worldwide Limited.

Refreshments will be available on the day and the day certainly promises to cater for all the family.

"Everyone is welcome to come along, there is certainly plenty to see and activities to get stuck into," said PCSO Justin Mekkaoui. "Last year the weather was against us, so we're hoping that the sun will shine on us and local people, holidaymakers and visitors will come along and enjoy a fun day out with us."
